Delilah stood under the water, trying to sort out what happened. Christian’s first time with her and now he was bound to her.

Forever.

Shit. And I took his virginity.

She wasn’t sure what to think of that. She wasn’t sure about settling down, but she felt the connection, she felt as if she belonged with him.

And what if it’s just the mate bond talking, and none of it’s real.

She wanted to cry, to scream, to hit something. That wouldn’t do a damned bit of good but it was tempting.

Why couldn’t I just get my shit together and ask him out ages ago? We could have figured it out without the metaphysical bullshit.

The smell of coffee brewing reached her. She heard the quiet conversation between Slater and Christian.

Sighing, she shut off the water and quickly dried off to get dressed.

She found Slater sitting at the counter while Christian waited on the coffee. Slater’s last comment rang true. They were friends, there was love. Even if it was new for her, she couldn’t deny it.

“He’s right,” Delilah said softly.

Christian’s gaze snapped to hers, and she saw the hope mingled with the worry. “About?”

“I’ve felt that connection since I met you. I guess I’m used to a guy chasing me. You waited. You were patient. You made sure we were friends. Then, you did the impossible and came to me when I needed you most. I don’t regret this morning, Christian.”

He closed the distance and wrapped her in his arms. “Good, because I want to explore us. I meant what I said. I do love you. I have since the beginning.”

She brushed her lips over his. “I love you too. Sorry I freaked.”

“It’s okay. We’re here now,” Christian murmured.

She stepped back from Christian and turned to Slater. “So, I guess you’re my alpha now.”

Slater chuckled. “Unless you want to move somewhere else. I think your dad would be ticked though. It’s going to take him a little time to get used to his little girl being a wolf. Not to mention that you’re already mated.”

Delilah ducked her head. “Yeah. I should probably talk to him about that. Think you’d come with us? I’d rather not have Dad freak and strangle my mate.” Her eyes cut over to Christian. His brow arched, a smirk lifting one delicious corner of his mouth.

“I just got you. I’d rather not die so soon,” he teased.

Slater grinned. “Then after some coffee, we should go. Stacey’s making us breakfast. They don’t know the details, but I did tell them to plan for a couple extra people.”

Delilah shook her head and looked up at the ceiling. “This should be interesting.”
